As a mixed media artist, I am interested in memory, place and mythological folklore. As a third-generation artist, my work layers old family letters, photographs and book pages underneath my images, creating an underpainting of memory and fragmentation. I am particularly interested in the idea of wilding, of nature taking back control and of women finding that wildness inside as well, being perfectly comfortable in the company of foxes or bees. Fairy tales are known to guide little girls to stay on the path and away from the woods. In my artwork, I am drawn to figures who are very comfortable away from that tidy path. Collage is my way of telling stories and making sense of this strange and beautiful world.
